PROJECT
“I Congratulate You” is a fashion based project which centres on the theme of plastic waste. It consists of
two 3D printed accessories: a headpiece and a handbag which I have created through a typographic approach.
The title of this project is a reference to the opening line of the first Earth Day speech (made by Gaylord Nelson in 1970) which further acts as a structure to the handbag by utilising its text as “fabric” to my garment. The general shape of the handbag is quite simple and minimal which acts as a contrast to the abstract and playful shape of the headpiece.
Due to its impactful and poetic nature, the text used for the headpiece was constructed by using a series of slogans that have a connotation with time and the future in order to reflect upon the long lasting impact plastic has on the environment.
